New Product: StopTech Porsche Brake Rotors

We've got our hands on the press release announcing a new AeroRotor Direct Replacement Kit for Porsche drivers. It's not going up on the official website until the product shots are ready, but as a StopTech Blog reader, you are among the first to read about it. Proof that blogs are faster than traditional media!

Here is the release...

Los Angeles (July 2009) – StopTech Performance Brakes is rolling out AeroRotor Direct Replacement Kits (DRK) for series 996 and 997 Porsche 911s. StopTech DRKs bring the company’s patented, race-winning technology to Porsches on the street or track as a simple to bolt-on replacement rotor that fits the stock caliper. StopTech, the ultra-performance division of Centric Parts, is a leading manufacturer, supplier and innovator of world class brake components and brake systems for production-based race cars and high performance vehicles on the street and track.

StopTech’s AeroRotor DRKs offer a wide variety of benefits over stock Porsche rotors. The DRK’s use of the patented AeroRotors and patented billet aluminum AeroHats resist coning in high temperature environments and creates improved cooling airflow for longer pad life, longer rotor life and reduced brake fade. Depending on which stock Porsche rotors are being replaced, the vehicle may also benefit from a reduction in unsprung weight, therefore additionally improving the overall handling and braking of the vehicle.

Each StopTech Aero Rotor DRK comes with two front or rear slotted AeroRotors (drilled available as special order) and mounted billet aluminum AeroHats as well as installation guidelines which includes details on a required simple brake pad modification. The DRKs are available for 996 and 997 series Porsche 911 turbo, GT2 and GT3 models.

StopTech helped propel
GMG Racing’s James Sofronas to SCCA SPEED World Challenge victories last year at New Jersey Motorsport Park and this year at the Long Beach Grand Prix. GMG Racing opened their 2009 season with driver Dino Crescentini, who also happens to be StopTech’s CEO, earning a pole position start at Sebring International Raceway on StopTech brakes. Steve Eguina sports StopTech on his competition 996 GT2 while Gary Tolar competes with StopTech on his 996 GS.

StopTech (

The ten year old company remains the worldwide leader with more than 700 platform offerings to dramatically improve overall braking performance. StopTech’s industry leading technologies and materials, from rock-solid calipers to ingeniously efficient heat-handling rotors, have earned four patents that result in shorter stopping distances, better brake modulation, and less brake fade.
